The Law No. 12.334 / 2010 establishing the National Policy on Dam Safety (PNSB) provides, as one of the instruments of this policy, the development of a Dam Safety Plan. The need for a PAE for a dam is established, according to the risk category and associated potential damage.

SBB had the opportunity to perform the PAE for the dam of Joao Leite, with 50 m high and only 6 km upstream of the city of Goiania, in the Goiás State, Brazil, as a requisition of the World Bank. It also made the PAE for some SHPP´s, and for HPP Belo Monte had the opportunity to review and comment the PAE of 31 embankment dams, as well their concrete structures.
